All-Ireland U21 Hurling Semi-Final 2009

CLARE…………..3-23
GALWAY…………….5-15

By Michael O Connor.
Seven years ago in Waterford in the 2002 Tony Forrestal semi final Galway and Clare met and what was produced was one of the best ever games in the famed competition. Clare won that day by the minimum yet, who could have thought that these two sides would meet again to provide hurling supporters with a game that will be forever etched in the psyche of Clare hurling. Ciaran O Doherty, Enda Barrett, Colin Ryan and Eamonn Glynn were part of the Clare team in 2002 and alongwith new and young colleagues have brought the sun shining through the clouds that have been gathering over Clare hurling circles in recent times. Kilkenny now await in Croke park on September 13th and it will be another game to savour if this Clare team are to be reckoned with.

CLARE: Donal Touhy, James Gunning, Eamonn Glynn, Ciaran O Doherty, Domhnall O Donovan , Nicky O Connell (0-1), Patrick O Connor, Enda Barrett, Cathal Chaplin, John Conlon (0-3), Cormac O Donovan (0-1), Sean Collins (0-2), Darach Honan (2-4), Caimin Morey (0-1), Colin Ryan (0-8). Subs: Cian Dillon for Gunning, Conor McGrath (1-1) for O Connor, Conor Tierney (0-2) for Morey, Gary Burke for Keehan, Patrick Kelly for Collins.
